Ralph C. Sweetland, MD
Founding Trustee
Ralph Sweetland, MD is a founding trustee at the Lynch Foundation, and is an active member of the Investment Committee. He is the former Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Northshore Medical Center, and Lecturer in Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Ralph specialized in reconstructive joint surgery and spent decades educating and mentoring orthopedic residents.
Ralph is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Massachusetts Orthopedic Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society, and a charter member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. His leadership and mentorship have trained numerous leaders in the field of orthopedics.
In addition to his medical accomplishments, Ralph has fulfilled volunteer responsibilities, including the Board of Overseers of the Museum of Science, the New England Conservatory of Music, Harvard Systems Biology Advisory Committee, and Director of The Fells Historic Gardens and Estate. Ralph continues his teaching and mentorship as a docent at the Museum of Science, Hall of Human Life Exhibit.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School. He resides in Sunapee, New Hampshire with his wife where they are active members of the community and enjoy many visits from the children and grandchildren. When not in New Hampshire, you will find Ralph jumping from helicopters, as he has earned an honorary ski suit after reaching one million vertical feet of heli-skiing.
