Community Learning Collaborative
The Community Learning Collaborative (CLC) was conceived by the collaboration of four visionary leaders: Robert Lewis, Vanessa Calderon-Rosado, Amanda Fernendez, and James Morton. Together, their organizations serve hundreds of Boston Public School students who were left with no school to attend during the pandemic. They watched as affluent, politically connected families established learning pods and hired private tutors for their children. So The Base, YMCA of Greater Boston, Latinos for Education, and Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción chose to act and provide for their children the same opportunity and access. The CLC is hosting 13 learning pods in the city, staffed with culturally competent, bilingual teachers who are providing academic and social-emotional support, in a nurturing and safe environment. As schools reopen for in-person instruction, CLC leaders will take learnings from the past year and continue to transform equity in education. Learn more about the learning pods on Channel 5’s Five for Good.
